Director/Staff

Dave is the founder of California Gymnastics Center, renamed and incorporated as California Sports Center in 1991, and is an active leader in all aspects of CSC.  Dave prides himself on having gathered some of the finest staff to teach and coach the many programs offered for students & athletes. He remains personally involved in most areas of the business, and particularly focuses on business operations so managers, leaders, and coaches can do their jobs providing excellent instruction and customer service. Under his and his wife Anne’s leadership, CSC grew from one location to a total of 10 on a seasonal basis, with over 250 employees. Even after the pandemic, CSC remains a strong company, with on-going facility changes and opportunities in the future. Dave has been married to his lovely wife Anne since 1996.  Anne became a full-time partner of the business by 1998 and she has been a serious reason behind the successes of the company with her excellence in finance and budgetary controls as well applying her many creative teaching experiences drawn from her credentialed background. Together, they have three wonderful, adult aged, children and two dogs.

Dave’s Current Community Outreach and Activities include:

• Founded what is now California Sports Center in May of 1987
• Member of the Rotary Club of San Jose, since 1991
• Board of Directors (2002-2005)
• Current Chair Interact Committee – sponsoring 5 local high school clubs
• Professional Member of USA Gymnastics, since 1980.
• Local Organizing Committee member for US Olympic Trials in San Jose in 2012, 2016, & tbd 2020.
• Advocate for the “Xcel for Boys” program nationally – assisted in the program development
• Past National Task Force member for USA Gymnastics, 2008
• 1980 began his formal coaching as the Boys Team Head Coach, Sunnyvale Gymnastics Club (while attending SJSU.)
• Member Northern California Boy’s Gymnastics Association.
• Member Northern California Women’s Gymnastics Association
• Active participant in the Annual West Point Open, West Point NY.  Dave assists in the hosting one of the largest annual boys competitions along the east coast.  Dave started the event with then new head coach, Doug Van Everen.  Now Dr. Van Everen leads the three-day event with hundreds of athletes in attendance and calls on Dave annually to oversee both the Jr. Olympic event and the annual collegiate event held in conjunction.

• Member of the Building Committee & Golf Committee for Santa Teresa Catholic Church

• Former Faculty of San Jose State University (1998-2001) – Part-time instructing gymnastic classes for Physical Education dept.
