Boys Meet Results: State Future Stars

Held in Pleasanton August 29, 2010

All summer long the boys team has been working on developing their basic positions and skills in hopes of being able to compete officially in the Future Stars program. After many hours of hard work by the boys, 13 were able to put together routines for the state level Future Stars, including returning National Test Qualifiers Bennet Huang and Andrew Herrador.

The testing kicked off this weekend at West Coast Olympic Gymnastics Academy in Pleasanton, California.   California Sports Center had boys in all 6 Future Stars Age Divisions.  In Division 1, 7yr. old Matthew Krall took 3rd place in the AA and had the highest strength score of the test with a 9.2.  On the Still Rings in Division 2 Aidan Johnson did great with a 8.5.  In Division 3, Mirko Caballero posted the second highest all around of the test; his teammates in the division did great as well, Kyle Burriss posted a 9.3 on the Still Rings and Jason Duckering scored an 8.3 on vault.  The fourth Division of the group did great with Preston Worth amazing everyone with his incredible high bouncing routine on Trampoline; Kyle Abe gave it his best and scored the highest strength score of the division, and Ryan Danis tumbled his way to top floor score of the division.    In the last two divisions California Sports Center dominated - having the only representation in those divisions!  Bennet Huang not only posted the highest all around of his meet but all divisions combined.  Not to be out shined Jamil Tokhi has improved a lot from last year and really put together great routines including an awesome Rings routine.  Division 6 went to Andrew Herrador who scored the highest trampoline score of the meet with a 9.2.  Alejandro Suarez really pushed hard and had the most flat and correct flexibility positions and won and had the highest score in the meet on Flexibility.  On the Still Ring Strength, Hakim Tokhi was rock solid in handstand and made each position look easy.    Over all the meet was a success, and all the coaches are looking forward to the regional competition.
